Show - I Blue Star Marker Proposed For Road Side Park ' . At a meeting of the Uta Shade Tree Commission in mid-September mid-September the Parowan Garden Club was asked to sponsor, beautify beau-tify and protect a new Blue Star Memorial Marker to be placed at the Lunt Memorial Park on Buckhorn flat 12 miles northeast of Parowan. The request came to the Parowan Par-owan group through the recommendation recom-mendation of Arthur Jor.es of Cedar Ce-dar City, a member of the Shade Tree Commission, with the letter coming to John H. Pendleton requesting re-questing him to take the lead in sponsoring the marker. The erection of this marker which Mr. Pendleton states has been tentatively set for Saturday of this week at the road side park, will mark the first such marker to be placed In Utah, although al-though there are many In oth-states oth-states in the nation. The markers are placed as memorials to all men who have served and will serve In the armed forces of this country, according to the letter. The marker Installation will not cost the sponsoring organi zation anything but the support of some local group Is needed to i protect the marker and publicize !s being placed at the park. All Iron County communities are being be-ing asked to Join in the project, Mr. Pendleton states. |
