Show Cedar Pharmacists Join in Week's Special Observance Local pharmacists will Join In a nation-wide observance of National Na-tional Pharmacy Week October 2-8, In an annual tradition that dates back to 1925. National Pharmacy Week Is sponsored by the American Pharmaceutical Phar-maceutical Association, the professional pro-fessional society of the pharmacists, pharma-cists, as a salute to the 110,000 pharmacists who serve in retail establishments, hospitals, colleges col-leges and industry. I Th Kloffan for the observance is "Your Pharmacist Works for Better Community Health." Window Win-dow displays, public addresses by pharmacists and special radio and television programs throughout through-out the nation will point up the local pharmacy as a community health center. A goal of the special week Is to Inform people that the pharmacist phar-macist Is a licensed professional profession-al man devoted to Improving the health of the community and of his customers. The pharmacist is a necessary link between physicians physi-cians and their patients. About 90 percent ot the pharmacists phar-macists in this country are professionally pro-fessionally engaged In some 54,000 community pharmacies in the U. S. The pharmacist is a specialist in the science of drugs and medicines. He has an understanding of the composition and uses of drugs and Is required to dispense dis-pense them according to rigid federal and state laws. He provides pro-vides a major deterrent against the unauthorized use and distribution distri-bution of drugs that could impair im-pair public health. National Pharmacy Week Is the outgrowth of a recommendation recommenda-tion made in 1924 by the Dr. Robert J. Ruth, who was at that time' chairman .of the APA Section Sec-tion on Practical Pharmacy.
