Show Barlocker Will Chairman Health Campaign William A. Barlocker, Democratic Demo-cratic candidate for Governor, today to-day accepted chairmanship of an experimental campaign for mental men-tal health in Cedar City. The' National Association for Mental Health selected Cedar City Ci-ty as one of the five cities in the United States where a mental health campaign will be run in such a way as to keep campaign costs to an absolute minimum. If this effort is successful, the experimental method will be used nation-wide during the 1961 Mental Health campaign next May. Cedar City was selected because of its size, location, and the fact that no mental health campaign has been run in the city before. v 1 Two hundred citizens of Cedar Ce-dar City will receive a letter In the mail this week asking them to serve as volunteers on Wednesday, Wed-nesday, Oct. 19, "Bell-Ringer Day" by soliciting their neighbors neigh-bors on their own streets. Mr. Barlocker says "I urge my neighbors to respond favorably to the letters they receive, and contribude generously to the appeal ap-peal for funds to fight the nation's na-tion's number 1 health problem Mental Illness." The Utah Association for Men- Ital Health, 132 East 2nd South, Salt Lake City, will receive the! funds collected for distribution! to ' the National Association for Mental Health. |
