Show Local Builders Low Bidders For CSU Building Blackburn and Gower, Cedar City contractors, in a Joint venture ven-ture with Atkin Plumbing, and J Heating Co. of Cedar City, submitted sub-mitted the low bid last week for construction ' of a student cen-er cen-er at College, of Souhern Utah. The Cedar City bid was for $247,-310, $247,-310, well within the architect's estimate, which assures early start on the structure. Bids were opened by the State Building Board in Salt Lake City and Glen R. Swenson, director, said the bid would be referred to school officials for their recommendation. rec-ommendation. Two other bids were received, one by Max Rosenlof, Orem, with a bid of $283,500, and the other by Talboe Construction Co. of Provo for $299,700. Plans for the student center have been prepared by Gardner and Rasmussen, architects, who estimated the cost at $250,000. The contract calls for completion comple-tion In one calendar year. The student center, to be an extension of the women's gymnasium gym-nasium on the campus, will Include In-clude a book store, student offices, of-fices, cafctoria, game room and small ballroom. The addition to the building will be two stories and basement. Remodeling of the present building to facilitate the new construction has been under way for some time. The contract for the new building build-ing is the third lot this year for new buildings at the college. Previous contracts were let for a new science building, now well under way, and a women's dormitory, dor-mitory, work on which will be started in the very near future. |
