CSU Thunclerbirds Win Consolation Title in San Diego Basketball Meat College of Southern Utah T-Birds T-Birds came into their own this past week end when they wound up with the consolation championship cham-pionship in the California Western Wes-tern Tournament in San Diego, Calif. I After losing their opening round battle to the University of San Diego, the tournament's eventual champions, the T-Birds i came back with a pair of victor-I victor-I ies Tuesday and Wednesday to ' garner the consolation honors and a team trophy. In addition, Kod Oliver, steady forward on the T-Bird frnt wall, was selected to the All-Touma- consistant scorer for the T-Birds over the three nights of the tourney with 17 points in the opener and the final game and 12 in the second round action. Coach Boyd Adams and his Thunderbirds lost the tournament tourna-ment opener to San Diego University Uni-versity by a score of 09 to 58, but bounced back to defeat Colorado Colo-rado College by a wide margin in the second round 73 to GO. 1 1 1 the final night lor the consolation consola-tion honors the T-Birds met and defeated the Marine Corps Ko-cruit Ko-cruit Depot of San Diego, in a real barn-burner, 03 to 57.
