J f : .' 1 S , 4 ; r - , ji- SEAMAN JAY DON OLDS Fireman Apprentice Jay Don Olds, I'SN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin J Olds of Cedar City re-eently re-eently received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal while serving serv-ing aboard the anti-submarine aircraft carrier USS Kearsage in the Far East. Since then he has docked at Long Beach, Calif., and spent the Christmas holiday and the New Year holiday in that city with former Cedar City residents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Knight. The medal was awarded all crew members of the U. S. Seventh Fleet Carrier which provide pro-vide I anti-submarine warfare protection for ships of the fleet i '.perating in the South China Sea off the coast of Viet Nam after communist Viet Cong PT boat attacks agairiM the U. S. Destroyers Destroy-ers in the Gulf of Tonkin. The lS-month-old carrier is slated to enter the shipyard for a six-month overhaul in drydock. j |
