Show Virgin Man Greets Sister After 38 Years oi Separation It was a happy occasion at the Cedar City Municipal Airport Thursday Aug. 26. It was a reunion for Mrs. Janet Edkins of Auckland, New Zealand Zea-land and Frank V. Somerville of Virgin, Utah. They are brother and sister and It was the first time they had seen each other for 38 years. Mrs. Edkins made the trip to the United States for the purpose pur-pose of seeing her brother and they have planned extensive tours of the area during the approximate ap-proximate month and a half that she expects to remain In this country. The reunion was a Joyous event. Mrs. Edkins emerged from the Bonanza plane and rushed to her brother. "I wasn't too excited", she commented, "until I could see Frank from the window of the plane." The last time they had seen each other was 38 years ago when Frank Sommerville left his home in New Zealand to come to the United States. Five years ago Mr. and Mrs. Sommerville moved to Virgin in Washington County to make their home. Prior to that they had spent most of the past 30 years in Las Vegas, Nev. area and working earlier on Hoover Dam. Mrs. Edkins left New Zealand by ocean liner on August 2 on the "Mardosa". She arrived in San Francisco where she boarded board-ed a United Jet liner to Salt Lake City and from Salt Lake City to Cedar City via Bonanza. "Its been a wonderful trip and I people have really been nice to me," she stated, as she and her brother and sister-in-law headed head-ed for the administration build- lng arm In arm. |
