Show PHS Football Squad Practices for Opening Of Season on Sept. 11 with Delta Rabbits Coaches Lowell Caldwell and Charles Brinkerlurff have been working out nightly with a 50 member football squad at the Parowan High School, in preparation prep-aration for the opening of the season on Sept. 11. This year's football team at PHS will consist con-sist of an experienced line with pood si A' but with a backfield consisting of only two regulars from last year's squad. Seniors, all with two years of experience in football play, include in-clude Johnny Guffey, One Mor-tenscn, Mor-tenscn, Gerald Davenport, Mah-lon Mah-lon Dalley, (Jaylord Robb, Kenneth Ken-neth Watson, Ralph Robinson, Allan Lister, Rick Evans Hal Wasden and Mike Adams. Juniors, a number of whom have had limited experience in past years, are Royden Orton, Gary Cartwright, Tom Jones, Car-lyle Car-lyle Gurr, Gar'h Decker, Gary D. Orton, Ronald Robinson, Ramon Banks, Eldon Stubbs, Wayne Rowley, Larry Topham, Steve De-Mille De-Mille Brent Adams, Dan Harris and Leslie Hulet. A large group of sophomore are working with the squad, a few of whom were members of last year's squad as freshmen, and from which Coach Caldwell, is looking for help especially in the backfield, are Chris Apple-gate, Apple-gate, Nolan Truman, Wayne ! Stubbs, Craig Stubbs, Randy Rent ley, Glen Robinson, Mike Hu-i Hu-i let, Frank I'.irton, Lloyd Stubbs, 'Paul Chamberlain, Kenny Orton, Phil Hurt, Arnold Lister, Cliaun-1 Cliaun-1 cey Adams, Jim Harris, Fred Or-i Or-i ton. I A small group of freshmen boys have been issued suits and are working out each night with the football squal. They are Jo-dy Jo-dy Simkins, Brooks Wilson, Ward Bcttridge, Scott Guffey. Keith Stubbs. De!l Hulet and Clair Hal terman. The stage in practice hasn't been reached as yet where Caldwell Cald-well can tell who is going to play where only in a few spots, but hopes that within the next week, and after the first prac-tive prac-tive game, things will jell for the season. The Rams travel to Delta on Saturday, Sept. 11 for a practice game with the Rabbits, for its first test. League play gets under way the following week with the Rams meeting Beaver at that place Friday, Sept. 17. The remainder re-mainder of the schedule is as follows: Dixie at Parowan on Sept. 25; Virgin Valley of Nevada at Parowan, Par-owan, Oct 1; PHS Alumni here Oct. b; Parowan at Kanab, Oct. 15; Milford at Parowan, Oct. 22; Parowan at Cedar, Oct. 20, and Hurricane at Parowan, Nov. 5. |
