Show Fair Committee Holds Meeting To Name Dept Heads At a meeting of the committee commit-tee in charge of the selection of "Miss Iron County" to reign over the annual Iron County Fair the first three days in September, and of arranging a grand parade ! slated for the final day of the fair (Labor Day), held last evening eve-ning assignments of members to the various departments of the parade were made. These assignments, as-signments, as' announced by D. Amasa Stones, chairman of the committee, are as follows: National defense, Robert Lin-ford; Lin-ford; Industry and farming. Mitchell Lunt; Transportation, Jim Barton: Religion. Howard Joseph; Culture and music, Boyd Mitchell; Education, Alta Dalton; Dal-ton; Honored guests and offi cials, Mr. Stones; Communications, Communica-tions, Fern Johnson; Riding clubs Mary Lyman; Miss Iron County and Mother of the Year. Hulda Hulet; Square dancing, Rob Lin-ford, Lin-ford, and Clowns and Humor, Mitchell Lunt. In regard to the "Miss Iron County" contest, the committee is planning on an entrant from each of the nine communities in the county, with committee members mem-bers assigned to these communities commu-nities to see that this is carried out. From the nine entries, one will be chosen as Miss Iron Coun-ty Coun-ty Fair, and the other eight will act as her attendants, and will ride with her on a special float to be prepared for the parade. This parade will be held on Monday. Labor Day at 10 p. m. and the committee plans to make it the biggest event of its kind ever held here. Another decision made by the committee, regarding the $100 (scholarship being given to the winner of the Miss Iron County contest by Iron County, was announced an-nounced following last night's meeting. The committee decided that if the winner of the contest con-test has finished her work at College of Southern Utah, the scholarship money may be used to continue her schooling at another an-other school of her choice. The scholarship will be forfeited if the recipient does not intend to go to school. |
