Show City Council Names Fred Smith To Marshal Position The Parowan City Council at it regular meeting on Monday evening named Fred Smith as Parowan City Marshal, to succeed Elmer Green, who tendered his resignation to the council at a special meeting on July 1. Mr. Green has served as nightwatch-man nightwatch-man then city marshal for the past three years, but asked to be relieved of his duties by July 15 to take another position. The council considered three applicants for the Job on Monday Mon-day night and the appointment of Mr. Smith was made with the public safety committee of the council to confer with Mr. Smith on his recommendations and duties by next Monday, the time he Is to take office. Other applications for the position po-sition were Lloyd R. Davis and Basil Gilger. Mario Topham, city supervls-or, supervls-or, reported that Clifford Morten-en, Morten-en, veteran water service employee em-ployee of the U. P. Railroad, has offered to give what assistance f an ln rePM"g number of fire hydrants which are In need of repair within the city water system. Mr. Topham was Instructed to go ahead with a survey to determine materials and parts needed for repairing1 the hydrants and make the repairs re-pairs with Mr. Mortensen'a help. After some discussion concern-ing concern-ing the improvement program at the city race track, as to cost of materials, labor and supervision It was decided to close down the prolect for the time being until luf1 c!P8t of th? bandstand addition ad-dition is determined. |
