Show I Commissioners Pass Co. Officials Pay Hike j iter holding a public hearing on proposed budget increases on Monday in Parowan, the Board of Iron County Commissionrs approved increases in salaries of all elected county officials ex-cept ex-cept county commissioners. No protests of the budget change were made at the hearing. The commissioners salaries will remain at $1800 a year, with the recorder, assessor, treasurer and sheriff each to receive $4,600 per year, the attorney $4,485 and the clerk and auditor $4,800. Increases in salaries of elected officials were made possible through action of the State Legislature Legis-lature earlier this year. The commissioners also approved ap-proved closing the county offices on Saturdays, but set definite hours that the offices must be kept open during week days, on Monday through Friday. Begin, ning this week all county offices, except that of the sheriff, will be closed on Saturdays. Each office of-fice will open at 8:30 a. m. Monday Mon-day through Friday, and remain open until 5 p. m. except for one hour, 12 noon to 1 p. m. each day. Action was taken fixing the license fee for a gasoline and oil distributing business of Jack Moyle at Cross-Roads in the Es-calante Es-calante Valley at $50 per year. A letter from L. David Love of the Escalante Valley Coordinating Coordinat-ing Council objecting to Iron County spending county road funds to oil-surface a road from Newcastle running southwesterly to the Iron-Washington County line to connect with a road to be built by Washington County from Enterprise to this point, was read. The clerk was instructed to advise Mr. Love and his associates associ-ates that Iron County had taken no action on this proposal,' although al-though suggestions for such a project have been made by Washington County officials. The clerk was Instructed to ask Ancll J. Adams, lease of the County Rest Home In Parowan for a complete financial statement state-ment of the operation of the home, to give the commissioners the opportunity to study receipts and disbursements preparatory to renewing the lease on the home in October, the expiration date ol the present lease. |
