Sevy, Republican, and former member of the Iron County Board of County Commissioners, Commis-sioners, was appointed Monday to fill the unexpired term on the board of Douglas Clark, who died of a heart ailment recently. Mr. Clark waj chairman of the board at the time of his death, and Jess Guymon, Republican, member of the board was elevated elevat-ed to the position of chairman, to head the hoard composed of himself, Mr. Sevy and Warren Bulloch, Demueiat, who was elected to the board last year on an independent ticket. Assignments oi board responsibilities respon-sibilities were kept the same as had been beKne Mr. Clark's death, with Mi. Sevy being placed in charge of the road department de-partment whicn Mr. Clark was directing. Mr. Guymon will continue con-tinue in charge oi public welfare and Agriculture and Mr. Bulloch in charge of the county hospital. Mr. Sevy was appointed by the other two rr.embeis of the board, having been seeded from six candidates recommended by the Iron County Republican Committee Commit-tee headed by Walter G. Lunt of Cedar City. Mr. Sovj, a prominent livestoekman oi southern Utah, had gained considerable prominence promin-ence for his excellent service as a county commissioner in the past. Other candidates recommended by the Republican committee included in-cluded Myron F. Higbcc and Kenneth Clark, Cedar City livestockmen; live-stockmen; Walter G. Lunt and Morris C. Roberts, Cedar City businessmen, bus-inessmen, and Alex Wood, Beryl livestock man. |
