Show ( Civic Clubs Pledge to Support j Cedar City Beautification Week Clean-up, Fix-up and Faint-up ! has been designated as the slogan slo-gan for the Cedar City Beautification Beautifi-cation Week set for April 19 through April 25, by the beauti- I fication committee of the Cedar City Coordinating Council and i the Junior Chamber of Com- 1 merce Plans were formulated at a , joint meeting of civic club heads held Tuesday of this week and s commitments have been made . to divide the responsibility with- in the city between the Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club : and Elks Lodge. . Four districts havc been designated des-ignated within the city with di viding lines established on Center Cen-ter Street, running east and west and on 100 West Street running north and south. The Lions Club has been assigned the northwest portion of the city, Elks Club the northeast portion, Rotary Club the southwest portion and the Kiwanis Cluz the southeast portion. Will Supervise Clean-up These civic groups will not be responsible for the actual cleanup, clean-up, but will simply organize block and street groups and supervise sup-ervise the affair, Eldon S. Yer-gensen, Yer-gensen, chairman of the committee, commit-tee, pointed out. Schools, churches, Boy Scouts, ladies clubs, service groups and P-TA organizations will be asked ask-ed to cooperate in the extensive week's activities. The Junior Chamber of Commerce Com-merce will furnish the men and trucks to haul off refuse and rub-ish rub-ish that is collected during the week. Its members plan to spend two days gathering up the rubbish rub-bish and hauling it off. Fick-up will be made on Saturday and Sunday, April 24 and 25. They are also active in the organization organiza-tion of the week's activities. Mr. Yergensen added that if any persons who, because of illness ill-ness or physical handicaps, are unable to clean their lots they should contace him by phoning 302 and he will arrange to have some sroup help them out. The splendid cooperation of the civic club leaders at the Tuesday Tues-day meeting was highly gratifying gratify-ing tc the committee Mr. Yergensen Yer-gensen stated and with the pledges that were received he expressed the belief that the campaign would be a huge success. |
