Show LDS Welfare Building Tapped In Week-end Theft Cedar City Police Chief Antone Lambert reports that a quantity of supplies were taken from the Regional Welfare building of the LDS Church sometime Saturday Satur-day or Sunday nights, with indications in-dications that the thieves were in possession of keys to the yards and buildings. The burglary was discovered Monday morning when welfare officials entered the building. Although Al-though the exact amount of Kup-prlies Kup-prlies stolen cannot be determined determin-ed without a complete inventory of stocks, a quantity of canned goods, flour, frozen meat, eggs clothing and yard goods was taken.. ta-ken.. Apparently the supplies were hauled away in a car driven driv-en to the welfare building, the police chief reports. All gates to the area were locked Saturday evening, but had been epered apparently with keys since no damage was done. Entrnue to the building was gained through a window high up on the north side of the building, which had been reached by placing plac-ing ,i large rack against the building. After getting into the building through the window, apparently ap-parently the doors were opened from the inside, and several bags of flour, a number of boxes of clothing, bolts of cloth and the canned goods were carried out. 1 The eggs were taken from the storage pit north of the building where perishables are kept. The pit was apparently opened with a key, since the door was still locked Monday morning although al-though the pit had been entered j and the eggs carried off. |
