Show Cedar City Couple Returns After Two Years in Japan Sgt. and Mrs. Pratt Smith and their small son arrived in Cedar City Friday after flying to the states from Japan. Sgt. Smith has been in the Far East for the past 40 months, serving with the armed forces in Japan as a telephone technician. For some time he has been in charge of the army telephone exchange ex-change at the army headquarters in Tokyo. H will have a 30-day leave after which he will report for duty at Joplin, Mo. Mrs. Smith, the former Miss Shirley Edwards, has been in Japan for nearly three years. She will remain in Cedar City for some time after her husband reports re-ports for duty in Missouri. The Smith's young son, in making the trip set some sort of a school attendance record. He attended school in Tokyo on Monday and Tuesday of last week, made the 7000 mile trip and entered school in Cedar City Monday, missing only three days of school. |
