Show Freeman Pendleton Honored by West Point Promotion West Point, N. Y. Cadet Freeman Free-man L. Pendleton, son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Pendleton of this city, was recently promoted to a sergeant in the cadet brigade bri-gade at the United States Military Mili-tary Academy. With this rank, cadet Pendleton assumed the position of platoon guide 3rd Platoon, Company K, 2nd Regiment. Regi-ment. This promotion came as a distinct honor, as ranking positions po-sitions are determined by standings stand-ings in aptitude of service, based on semi-annual ratings of each cadet by every other cadet in his company, by his instruc-i tors, and by his company tactical tacti-cal officer. Items considered in the preparation prep-aration of these standings include in-clude attitude, appearance, leadership lead-ership ability and performance of duty. In these ratines Cadet Pendleton has consistently stood high In his class. Prior to entering West Point, Pendleton graduated from the Parowan high school and attended attend-ed the University of Utah. He was appointed to the Military academy by Rep. Walter K. Granger of Utah. At the academy he has been active as a member mem-ber of the lacrosse team. Upon his graduation In June 1952, Cadet Ca-det Pendleton plans to join the infantry. |
