The three remaining games pit the Institute against the First, the Third against the Fourth and the First against the Second. The College Ward, although boasting a perfect record with its seven wins and no losses, has had some rather close games. The ward downed the Third Ward by a margin of five points, the Fourth by eight, after trailing by two at the half, and with only a two point lead In the last two minutes of play. Under the league set-up the league winner earns the right to enter a district tournament, to be held in Parowan this year, and the district winner will be entered en-tered in the all-church tournament tourna-ment nt Prnvn Tho T. F 5 Tnstl. I tute team which has been participating parti-cipating in the stake league, automatically au-tomatically enters the district tourney. The combined won and lost record for the two halves of play will determine the Cedar Stake entry in the district meet, according ac-cording to Gordon Jones, Stake athletic director. The top five teams of the Cedar Stake have been comparatively close and the second half stretch which will get under way early in January, should produce some highly interesting games. For instance, in-stance, the Second beat the Fourth and lost to the Institute while the Institute lost to the Fourth. All three lost to the College Col-lege Ward. Games are played in the high school gymnasium each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Patrons are encouraged to attend and support their favorite team. ' i |
