Show ICAC Basketball Predicted Tops Final week for obtaining season sea-son tickets for the home confer- ,ence basketball games of the j College of Southern Utah Bron-cos. Bron-cos. has rolled around and a final push for sales is being nade, Cleo Petty, athletic director, direct-or, announced. Season tickets for seven home gr.mes have been prepared for reserved seats and have also been put out on a general admission admis-sion basis. A reserved season ticket costs $7 and the general admission ticket has been placed on sale for $5. The Letterman Club on the CSU campus has been in charge of ticket sales. However, they are also available through a number 'of boosters in the community and at the Thornton Drug Store. Opening up conference play the Broncos will entertain the Boise Broncos of Boise, Idaho on Friday, Jan. 7. Saturday, Jan. 8, C S U will meet the Ricks Vikings Vik-ings on the home court. The remaining home games for the Broncos are as follows: Jan. 15. Dixie Rebels; Jan. 21, Carbon Eagles; Jan. 22, Snow Badgers; Feb. 11, Westminster Parsons, and Feb. 12, Weber Wildcats. The Intermountain Collegiate Athletic Conference (ICAC) promises pro-mises to deal out one of its most impressive seasons. A. number i of the teams have been given top ratings this year and the home and home schedule gives each an ever break. Dixie and Bosie have the toughest jobs on the basis of travel. Boise, which opens up here on Jan. 7 will include in-clude Dixie on the jaunt, meet-in meet-in gthe Rebels on Jan. 8 at St. George. Rate High Ricks, always a strong ICAC contender, has shown a strong offensive punch in pre-confer-ence play, as has Weber, Snow and Dixie. Snow is rated as one of the top contenders, along with CSU with the addition of Joe Kirby to the Badger squad to team with Jensen, a member of last year's national honor team. A concensus of opinion is that no team will walk away with honors this year. The ICAC championship will undoubtedly go to a team with two or maybe three losses on its record. The first week of play will be a determining factor in the Bronco's Bron-co's hopes for conference honors this year. Boise, not generally a strong contender in the hoop field, Is a dark horse this year. Very little has been said about the team in Utah and its comparative com-parative strength is not known. However, Ricks, the second onpor-ent onpor-ent for the local five, will undoubtedly un-doubtedly be one of the strongest competitors for the conference title ti-tle this year. A win here for Coach Petty and the Broncos would give them a head start in the race that, from all indications, indica-tions, will be fought down to the wire. |
