Show Conservation Service Conducts Cedar Mountain Tests 1 ne ursi in a m'ui-s ui suuw measurements on Cedar Mountain Moun-tain were conducted Monday by the Soil Conservation Service, it was announced today by Lee' Carlson of the Iron County office. Three measurements were made made Monday. The first at Webster's Flat, the second at, the Cedar Breaks-Hi'ghway 11 in-' tersection at Midway, and another an-other at the Jim Urie ranch just west of the College of Southern Utah ranch at the head of the gulch. Measurements at Webster's Flat indicated a 1G.5 inch snow cover to date with a water content con-tent of 2.5 inches. This measurement measure-ment was the only one that can be compared with tests last year. At the same time last year the snow fall was recorded slightly less at 15.4 inches but the water content was higher at 3.3 inches. Midway measurements were: Snow fall 23 inches with a water content of 3.9 inches. The Urie ranch test indicated a snow fall of 9.8 inches and .91 of an inch of water. Making the tests for the S C S were Delmar Barrick of Mt. Pleasant Plea-sant and Jerry Huff of Fillmore. chairman of the department of vocational and industrial education educa-tion at C S U, is chairman of the evening program at the college, 'while a special citizen committee commit-tee is in charge of the community commu-nity program. The courses available in the two programs are so varied that almost any adult interested in devoting an evening a week to j study can find classes of interest. |
