Show Broncos Travel to Salt Lake City to Meet Northern Rivals The College of Southern Utah baseball team will meet Boise Junior College in Salt Lake City Saturday, May 15 in a one game play-off for the Intermountain Collegiate Athletic Conference title for 1954. The Boise team clinched the northern division title this week with games at Westminster College, Col-lege, while the Broncos clinched the title two weeks ago when they defeated the Snow Badgers for their fifth straight win. The play-off game should have been played at Cedar City, ' but because of the great distance between Cedar City and Boise it was agreed to play the game in Salt Lake City. The baseball squads will travel to the Utah capital with the track teams who will participate In the I C A C track and field meet at Westminster West-minster Friday. The Broncos wound up their southern division schedule by defeating the Dixie Rebels last Thursday on the local field by a 19 to 9 score in a free hitting: but rather loosely played game, particularly on the part of the Rebels. The Broncos clinched the victory vic-tory in a big nine-run fourth inning as the result of some good hitting and a series of cost-; cost-; ly fumbles by the Rebels. The i Broncos outhit the visitors 11 to eight, but the big margin was in errors, the Dixie team committing com-mitting 12. Ray Robinson pitched most of the game for the Broncos with Jack Shipp seeing action in the last two innings, more for a bit of warm-up work than from necessity. |
