Show Broncos Meet Defeat In Telephonic Track and Field Meet Last Ftiday afternoon on the tracks of the College of Southern 1 Utah Broncos and the Mesa Jun- lor College of Grand Junction,! Colo., the Broncos were defeated in a telephonic track meet by a ' score of 71 to 59. I Teams of the two schools timed every event ron their own fields, and the figures were assembled at a neutral poinj. Of the 16 events on the track and field the broncos were successful suc-cessful in garnering only five firsts with J. N. Webster leading the local crew with two of the five. He captured first in the 120 1 yard high hurdles in 16.2 sees, and took the broadjump with a leap of 21 feet 8 inches. Der-1 aid Evans was close behind with 1 a first in the high jump and a tie for first in the polevault with John Wood. Gordon argent took the other first with a javelin throw of 155 feet 2 inches. Graff of CSU tied for first in the 100 and was second in the 220. Evans cleared the high jump bar at 6 ft. 1-78 in. and the pole vault went at 11 feet. Two relays were run in the dual meet with Mesa taking first in both the 880 and the mile. ' |
