Show The City Council, at its regular meeting Thursday, Mar. 18, approved ap-proved the purchase of two pickup pick-up trucks for use by city departments. depart-ments. A 1952 CMC was purchased pur-chased from Lunt Motor Company Com-pany for $860 and will be used by the water department. Another Anoth-er truck, a 1954 Chevrolet to be used by the street department, was purchased from Bradshaw Chevrolet Company for $1164. Bids were submitted at the meeting meet-ing upon request of the council. coun-cil. The Council also approved a bid of William Munford for removing re-moving trees on 100 West Street under the City Tree Planting Commission program. The Commission Com-mission had developed a cooperative cooper-ative program among property owners on the street for the removal re-moval of old trees that are planted plant-ed too close to allow proper growth, are an objectionable type tree, or that have become hazardous. A total of 69 trees have been marked for removal and the bid was for about $1100. The Council also agreed to budget $1000 for expenditure by the tree commission in 1955 for similar tree removal programs in other parts of the city. The commission com-mission Is developing a uniform tree planting program throughout through-out the city and the removal of the old trees Is an Important part of the overall program. Ralph B. Piatt has been employed em-ployed by the city as an engineer on a part time basis, approval for his employment having been given at the meeting Thursday. Said application, when applicant is a renter shall be accompanied with a deposit of fifteen dollars ($15.00) to guarantee payment of all water rates and costs. In the event the user shall fail to pay his water charges said deposit shall be forfeited and applied on such delinquencies. Upon the termination ter-mination of service said deposit shall be returned to the depositor provided all such charges have been paid. Before water, will be turned on to any premises, all charges against the premises that are due an:l payable to the city for water or any service, material or supplies pertaining thereto furnished fur-nished thereon, must have been paid. In the event a property owner allows a tenant to move into and occupy rental property proper-ty without t ho deposit of $15. 0C as herein set forth, then and in that event, said landlord shall be responsible for any and all payment end costs incurred by said tenant for water charges Section 2. This ordinance shall become effective thirty days after af-ter passing or twenty days aftei publication, whichever date lithe li-the most remote.
