Show Miss Cedar City Contest Set for Thursday Although no accusations have been made the committee members mem-bers of the Junior Chamber of Commerce Miss Cedar City Pa-gent Pa-gent have been wondering about the candidates for the Lions Club, the Utah Parks Company and Thompson Office Machines. It seems that all three of these contestants con-testants live at the girls dorm at the College of Southern Utah and all three are roommates. Nevertheless, an outstanding evening of entertainment, featuring featur-ing five lovely misses in competition compe-tition for the coveted title of Miss Cedar City, is promised Cedar Ce-dar City residents who attend the annual affair to be held at the public school auditorium Thursday Thurs-day evening, April 1 at 8 o'clock. Candidates and Sponsors The list of candidates and sponsors is as follows: Carol Ann ' Parry, Kiwanis Club; Janet Was-den, Was-den, Elks Club; Darleen May, Thompson Office Machines; Mary Jane Okerlund, Utah Parks Company, Com-pany, and Virginia Rose, Lions Club. Prizes valued at $242 will be I awarded during the evening to contest arrts besides a $100 check to the lucky winner to carry her through the Mi! Utah contest. A look-see into the outstanding entertainment promised for the evening revealed the following: Miss Okerlund, originally from Loa, Utah is a daughter of Mr. Mrs. Mrs. Wayne Okerlund and she is presently studying at the College of Southern Utah. Her talent presentation for the eve-, ning will be a dramatic reading. Miss Rose is a talented singer who carried the lead in the opera "The Student Prince," at CSU last week. Her rendition of "Spring in My Heart," by Strauss promises to put her among the top talent numbers. Celloist Miss Tarry, a native of Cedar City and a senior student at the Cedar City High School will play a cello solo. She is an accomplished accomp-lished m u s ic i a n performing equally well on the clarinet. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. fnnu'3v Parrv An i rtt orpct i n cr V"U,,,TH .... .... .....t, sidelight is, the fact that her rival, ri-val, Miss Wasden will accompany accom-pany her at the piano. Miss May, a student at C S U from Delta is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morgan May and is studying elementary education at the present time. She will present pre-sent a dramatic reading entitled "Swamp Land." Last, but far from least, .will be a piano solo by Miss Wasden. Was-den. She is also a senior student at the Cedar High School and has distinguished herself in many extra curricular activities at the school. She will play a piano solo in her talent effort to obtain the coveted Miss Cedar City crown. Tickets are on advanced sale ind they will also be sold at the door the night of the pageant. |
