Show Commerce Group Elects Gordon Christensen Prexy Gordon Christensen, manager ci the Thornton Drug store, was elected president of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce for l'.t50 in balloting that ended on New Year's Eve. He will succeed Dr. L. V. Broadbent. who has served as president during 1!1!. nd who steps from that posi-1 lion to Mayor of the city. Lyman Sevy, prominent stockman stock-man was named vice president ol the organization to succeed William I!. Thorley in that position. posi-tion. Three new directors were also named, including Leo Ca-boon Ca-boon and Paul Cox, elected for two-year terms, and Dr. T. Donald Don-ald Bell, elected for one year. Cahoon is manager of the Stevens Ste-vens & Company department More, Cox is owner and operator of the Cox Motor Company, and Dr. Bell Is head of the Agriculture Agricul-ture department at the Branch Agricultural college. Serving with the newly elected officers will be directors Ray F.nell and El wood Corry whose terms of office run until Decern-ber Decern-ber 31, 1950. Retiring Board members mem-bers will be Homer S. Jones and Reed Bradshaw. The position of the executive secretary, which has been filled by Smoot Seaman during the past year, Is appointive and will be filled by the new board at Its first regular meeting. The old and new boards will meet Jointly Monday night, and the time will be spent In discussing discus-sing "unfinished business". |
