Thp students have been working work-ing toward the sound system for several years, and have juit been able to get the equipment. It is a Stromberg Carlson set and has been Installed by Eugene and Her-shall Her-shall Urle. The system Is arranged so that each room In the school has a speaker into which programs can be channeled. The whole system has two channels so that many or one room can be listening to one program, while the others are lis-ening lis-ening to another program. The set has both a radio and a record player, play-er, as well as microphones for direct dir-ect contact with rooms.. Because of the arrangement individual rooms may listen to specific programs. Besides an office microphone the Little Theatre and the gym are each wired with microphones, so that programs from the Mientrp and games, etc., from the gym can be broadcast to other rooms. It Is believed by school officials that a system that con utilize such programs as the school of the air, news casts, sports events, will prove valuable to the studentbody. In building the high school architects arc-hitects planned for such a system by leaving channels open, and the school has worked toward purchasing purchas-ing the PA system for some time. Money received from salvage, such as tin cans and paper, during the war was put Into a fund for the purchase of a system. Different organizations, at the close of the school year, who have had funds left over have contributed It toward to-ward the fund, and the few profits from the bookstore have also been applied toward its purchase. |
