Show Byrne Fernelius To Head Department At Idaho College As the result of the outstanding Job done in physical education at the Cedar City High School last year Byrne Fernelius, head of the physical education department, has been selected as head of the same department of the Idaho State College Col-lege at Pocatello. Idaho. He has accepted ac-cepted the new position and will leave on September 15th to take over his new duties. Mr. Fernelluss will be head of Physical Education and Recreation Departments of the new Idaho State College, formerly the Southern Branch of the University of Idaho, and now a full four-year college. He will teach activity and professional profes-sional classes, and be charged with the responsibility of the development develop-ment of coaches and physical education ed-ucation directors. Mr. Fernelius came to the Cedar City high school after his release from service with the United States Navy, after having participated in the invasions of New Oulnia, the Philippines and Borneo, as Captain of a PT boat, for which he received the Bronze Star. He taught in the Physical Education Department at the Utah State Agricultural College Col-lege for two years before accepting the local position. During his one year at the Cedar City school Mr. Fernelius developed a physical education program that was recognized as the outstanding program In the state of Utah, and was also given national recognition on several occasions. It was because of his success at the Cedar City school that he was selected for the position at the Idaho State College. |
