Show Utah Makes Progress In Fire Prevention J. Whitney Floyd, chief forester-firewarden forester-firewarden for the state ot Utah, has recently made the following observations: ob-servations: Utah has had her share of hot. dry weather this summer. There has been Just as much dry vegetation to bum this year as In past years. Probubly more people have travelled on Utah's highways and byways than ever befoie. Yet, according to Mr. Floyd, Utah has suffered less from tire ou her watershed water-shed lands this year than hi yars past and during a time when our neighboring states are literally "burning up." I feel, states Mr. Floyd, that the people of Utah are awakening to the fire problem and the importance import-ance of fire prevention, especially on the lands from which our summer sum-mer water supplies come. The conservation con-servation agencies of the state wish to commend the people of Utah for such fine cooperation, but at the same time we ask that they not relax their vigilance. |
