Show Utah Special Tax Collections Reach New High Mark Collections of special taxes hit a new high in Utah for the fiscal year ended June 30, and exceeded by more than a million and a half dollars dol-lars the collection for the previous fiscal year, and by more than two and a half million the collections for the period ended June 30. 1939, according to figures released by the state tax commission. The collections of special taxes to June 30 of this year were $16,-978.994.89. $16,-978.994.89. while for the same period per-iod last year they were $15,350,496, and for the period ended June 30, 1939 they amounted to $14,432,566. Included in these figures are collections col-lections of unemployment compensation compen-sation contributions which will be collected by the state industrial commission beginning with the new fiscal year started July 1. A surplus of $850,000 was In the state , general fund at the end of the year, which will be placed in the new state government operating operat-ing fund at the disposal of the governor gov-ernor and other members of the board of examiners. The surplus in the motor vehicle registration fund now amounts to $596,059. This amount was allocated by the legislature to the new department de-partment of publicity and Industrial development. The first $800,000 collected col-lected from motor vehicle registration registra-tion Ls distributed among the cities and counties for road purposes. This surplus is expected to pass wed above the $600,000 mark by August 1, when the fund is distributed. s |
