Show DEATH OF FATHER LAMBERT. After a fruitful missionary service of fifty-one years in the priesthood, the Rev. William Lambert brother of Dr. Lambert of Scottsville, N. Y., and editor-in-chief of the New York Freeman's Free-man's Journal passed to eternity in the Wheeling hospital, in the seventy-third seventy-third year of his age. Deceased was a priest of the Wheeling diocese. West Virginia, and at his funeral, which was held in the Cathedral, this city, every honor which his bishop and the diocesan dio-cesan clergy could show, was paid to his memory. Father William Lambert was a fellow student of the late Bishop Ryan at the Philadelphia seminary; he was also held in high esteem by the late James G. Blaine, both having been reared on adjoining farms in Pennsylvania. Pennsyl-vania. In his prime, the now deceased priest was regarded as among the most forceful orators in the country. |
