Show TOWNE IS ENDORSED. , Home State Democrats Eavor Hi3 Nomination. Minneapolis, Minn., June 20. Thi Democratic state convention today was one of the largest and most harmonious ever held by the party in this state for years. Charles A. Towne of Duluth,1 Populist candidate for vice president' was given the heartiest kind of endorsement en-dorsement and the delegates to Kansas Kan-sas City were instructed to support hinV by their votes and by every honorable means. ; The platform reaffirms allegiance tr the doctrine of free silver coinage at "existing legal ratio." On this plank' there was some dissension in commit-' tee, one or two members suggestinff-that suggestinff-that it might be better not to have a financial plank. The resolutions fur-' ther declare against trusts and demand that trust articles be placed upon tho free list: express sympathy with the Boers: demand independence of Cuba3 ask repeal of war taxes; favor postal savings banks: favor an income taxy election of ("nited States senators byj direct vote of the people and a systemi of the initiative and referendum.
