Founders' Day has again gone down in history as one of the successful celebrations in Cache Valley during 1938. The program opened Saturday night with the Hillside Rodeo Company staging one of those thrilling rodeo's that keeps the paying patrons on their toes throughout. A capacity crowd was on hand as the grand entry marched into the arena. Miss Mary Anderson, rodeo queen, led the participants into the lighted park. Clarence E. Smith, president of the Bear River stake, gave a masterful mas-terful discourse at the Sunday afternoon af-ternoon meeting in which he likened Peter Maughan, leader of the first pioneers into Cache' Valley, Val-ley, to Brigham Young. Sunday's program included a concert by the South Cache higft school band, directed by W. H. Terry. This organization recently won second place in the Lions International In-ternational convention music contest con-test at Oakland, Cal. Two soft-ball soft-ball games were played in the rodeo ro-deo park under lights, and a celebration cele-bration dance commenced 15 minutes after midnight. Monday's program included a mile long parade in the forenoon followed by a sham battle between pioneers and Indians on the public pub-lic square. Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock another rodeo was staged. A boxing box-ing show and soft ball game were staged in the evening. The three day celebration was concluded I last evening with a grand ball In the amusement hall. |
