Invited by Escalante's Search & Rescue (S&R) chapter, Classic agreed to introductory training for Search & Rescue personnel from all of Garfield County. All Emergency Medical technicians (EMT's) and law enforcement personnel were also invited. Over 30 people attended the special training, with representatives representa-tives present from both Escalante & Boulder Search and Rescue Units as weir as the fire departments from each city. The EMTs and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) were also represented and actively participated in the patient loading training. Escalante's Search & Rescue chapter has been working hard to train its personnel and has been reaching out to other larger organizations organ-izations for support. The Utah State Search & Rescue Res-cue organization has accepted membership mem-bership of the Escalante Chapter and on May 19 the Escalante S&R chapter hosted the State board meeting. Over 100 members including in-cluding sheriffs from all over the state of Utah were in attendance.
