Dream Come True The collaborative project has been a dream come true for Garfield County Clerk Camille Moore who first introduced the concept some six or seven years ago. Panguitch City Manager Allen Henrie commended com-mended Moore for "being the driving driv-ing force behind the center" and said "it wouldn't be the tremendous (See OPENING on page 5-A) OPENING From Front Page center we see now without her perseverance." per-severance." Moore formed the original committee that researched and reported re-ported the need for such a facility and the potential long-term gains to be made by the county if the venture ven-ture were to become a reality. Facility Funding Both Panguitch City and Garfield Gar-field County ultimately opted to share equally in their financial commitment for the project. Each has committed funds upwards up-wards of $75,000 per year, with $30,000 of that going for operating expenses. The operation of the facility fa-cility could potentially cost more annually, according to Henrie and will depend on the success of marketing mar-keting efforts. Allen Henrie estimates the overall over-all project to be between $1.8 and $2 million, with Rural Development Develop-ment (formerly Farmers Home Administration) Ad-ministration) providing $905,000 .over 25 years and the remainder (See OPENING on page 6-A) OPENING From Page 5-A with Zions Bank over 20 years. Henrie also estimates the county and city donated another $150,000 to $250,000 in labor and materials for the ground work, water, sewer, phones, etc. they provided. Facility Highlights The Canyon Country Complex is 57,950 square feet and hosts a fully equipped 45,890 sq. ft. indoor arena, two outdoor arenas, with four large convention rooms, kitchen and concession stand, office and ticket booth. The arena measures 150 feet x 250 feet, features seating for 2100, with 1300 bleacher seats, oval seating seat-ing and some heated seating areas. There is a balcony-style announcers booth, mid-center stock chutes, removable re-movable indoor catch pens, and outdoor rough stock pens. Future Events Triple C Arena Director Joe Decker has had only six short months to begin marketing the facility fa-cility but already has a dozen or more events scheduled to take place. Decker has won the praise and admiration ad-miration of the entire Panguitch City Council recently following an update report on the new facility. Zane Dansie with ZD Cattle Company held the very first event this month even before the all the seats were secured in place and the convention rooms complete. Dansie Dan-sie was "thrilled with the facility" and commented that the Canyon Country Complex was so "well organized, or-ganized, designed and constructed, the best new facility I have seen." Dansie held a team roping event the weekend of June 1-2 with over 160 teams participating from around the area. There were teams from as far away as Cortez, Colo., and Las Vegas, Nev. Free dinners and two great saddles were awarded.
