Show County Commission Meets May 29 PANGUITCH The Garfield County Commission with commissioners com-missioners Maloy Dodds, Clare Ramsay and Dell LeFevre met Monday, May 29 wrapping up all county business in an unprecedented time of less than two hours. Bryce Canyon Airport Bryce Canyon Airport Manager Greg Pollock reported to the commission com-mission on a grant agreement for the planning phase of the Parallel Taxiway Project. The grant is in the amount of $150,000 with a required re-quired match from the county of 50 percent. Those funds have previously previ-ously been budgeted through a grant with the Municipal Building Authority. Armstrong Consultants had prepared pre-pared a contract for services during the design phase of the project which was reviewed by County Attorney At-torney Wallace Lee. After review the commission voted all in favor to proceed with the contract. Burr Trail Lawsuit Settlement Garfield County Engineer Brian Bremner discussed changes in a Memorandum of Understanding and Stipulation and Settlement Agreement Agree-ment between Garfield County and the other entities involved in the lawsuit over the Burr Trail, the National Na-tional Park Seivice, the National Recreation Association and the State of Utah. The agreement calls for a $25,000 settlement and withdrawal with-drawal of the county's counter (See COMMISSION on page 5-A) COMMISSION From Front Page claim. After discussion, Commissioner Commis-sioner Dodds was granted approval to sign the documents in behalf of the commission. Personnel Authorized Bremner asked the commission for authorization to hire Ward Man-gum Man-gum of Tropic in the weed control department and to advertise for an additional county roads department employee for the west side of the county. Permission was granted for Bremner to proceed. Clerk Authorized ' Purchase After the laptop computer which County ClerkAuditor Camille Moore uses for minutes at commission commis-sion meetings failed, she was authorized to purchase replacement equipment. Moore had previously been using an older laptop formerly used by the county attorney, so the purchase of a new laptop was in order or-der and needed as minutes are no longer being recorded by the county clerk but typed on her laptop computer com-puter as each commission meeting proceeds. Canyon County Complex A discussion ensued regarding a protective covering needed in the new Canyon Country Complex to use to cover the arena floor when alternate events are held at the facility. facil-ity. After reviewing several options, op-tions, a motion was made to approve ap-prove the purchase of a tarp covering cover-ing for the arena floor at an approximate ap-proximate cost of $6,750; the cost of which would be divided equally between Panguitch City and Garfield Gar-field County. Assessor's Office Garfield County Assessor Tom Simkins informed the county commission com-mission that his Deputy Assessor Randy Williams had completed the first series of classes required to become be-come a certifiedlicensed appraiser. Simkins requested that Williams salary be increased to $22,000 per year, which was granted by the commission. |
