Show Changes Made In Renewal Of Driver License Effective July 1, 1988, Utah drivers who are eligible-by-mail, and have renewed by mail in the past, will be required to complete the renewal process in person at a Driver License office. Recent rule changes require that a person must appear at one of the state's licensing offices at least once in every eight years. This procedure is expected to remedy the problem of drivers who have out-of-date pictures and drivers who have not had recent eye examinations, as well as to phase out old-style licenses. The process at a minimum will include a visual acuity test and a photo. Written notification will be sent to those who are eligible approximately approxi-mately 90 days before the expiration expira-tion of their present licenses. Anyone with a continuing good driving record should be eligible for a renewal-by-mail in four years. Relicensing officials say it is the responsibility of every driver to renew their license before the expiration expi-ration date of their license. If a person per-son has moved or the address on the license is no longer valid, the licensee li-censee must report this situation to the license bureau or they may lose any renewal-by-mail licensing advantages. |
