Show Nominations Sought For BLM Board Members In Area Ron Montagna, acting district manager for the Cedar City District, Bureau of Land Management, said that his office is accepting nominations nomina-tions for people to fill four positions posi-tions on the Cedar City District Advisory Council. Positions open are recreation (2 positions), non-renewable resource, and environmental environmen-tal protection. There are five other districts in the state and each has four directorships director-ships open. , . , . Each district council has four positions open to nominations. Those currently serving are all eligible eli-gible for renomination. The categories cate-gories open to nomination are listed below. Since the councils consist of ten members and only eight categories cat-egories of interest, some categories will have more than one representative. Terms of appointment appoint-ment will be for the three-year period beginning January 1, 1989. Nominations are invited from any group or individual interested in the management of public lands. Nominations must be submitted by August 1 and should include: name and address, telephone number; biographical sketch, and category of interest in which the nominee appears ap-pears best qualified to offer advice. Nominations should be submitted directly to the District Manager the council has been appointed to advise. ad-vise. The BLM District Managers, in Utah are: District Advisory Councils are required under the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976, as amended. Council members mem-bers advise the Bureau's District Managers on programs and policies concerning management of the public lands within the respective district". All appointments are made by the secretary, with appropriate recommendations from Bureau District Dis-trict Managers and State Directors. As required by the Federal Advi-' sory Committee Act of 1972, membership of the councils is to be balanced in terms of points of view and functions to be performed. To achieve this balance, members are selected from among persons who are qualified through education, training, knowledge, or experience , to provide informed advice concern- i ing eight categories of interest: Members may be reappointed to ; additional terms.
