Show Apricots Now Ready At Capitol Reef CAPITOL REEF NATIONAL PARK The annual apricot harvest in Capitol Reef National Park got underway at 9 a.m. , Monday, July 11, according to Park Superintendent Superinten-dent Martin C. Ott The price was set at 15 cents per pound of $5 per bushel, reduced to $4 if four or more bushels are picked. A good crop of apricots is expected. ex-pected. Although the park provides special orchard ladders safer than the average homeowner's ladder lad-der caution is strongly urged in all ladder use. Climbing the trees is not permitted. The National Park Service utilizes uti-lizes the receipts from fruit sales to help defray the costs of maintaining the historic orchards. According to Chief Ranger Noel R. Pie, over $14,500 has been realized from apricot sales over the last 10 years. |
