Show New Ranger Likes Work In 'Field' "I like to do things 'on the ground'," said recently appointed Powell District Ranger Carl Guil-lctte, Guil-lctte, "rather than in a pure administrative admin-istrative position, so I'll probably be spending a lot of my time in the field." He comes to Panguitch from the Salmon District, Salmon National Forest, headquartered in Salmon, Ida., and he says there is absolutely nothing fishy in that. He served almost 10 years there as district ranger. He was born in Massachusetts and reared in Kanosh. He attended the College of Southern Utah (now Southern Utah State College) and received his degree in range management man-agement from Utah State University Universi-ty in 1963. Guillctte's first assignment with the U.S. Forest Service was in the Richfield office of the Fish Lake National Forest where he served nine months as range conservation officer. He then went to the Salina office of the same forest where he served as assistant district ranger for five years before being transferred to the Lcadore District of the Salmon National Forest at Leadore, Ida., where he served as district ranger and then on to the Salmon District where he served prior to his move to Panguitch. M ft V: vf ll Carl Gillette Guillette is married to the former Faun Robison of Flowell, a small community near Fillmore. They are the parents of four daughters and a son. He says of his service, "The people I meet in every area have treated us extremely well and Panguitch Pan-guitch is no exception." He says he is impressed with the beauty of the area and would like a long stay here. |
