On March 12, a large crowd of Relief Society members attended work meeting. Susan Pollock presented pre-sented a lesson on first aid kits. Lucile Proctor, Panguitch, taught many ways to prepare rice and wheat. Gary Haws, Val Jean Haws, Mac LeFevre, Danny Olsen, Orcm, and Dean Tucker, Midvale, all enjoyed en-joyed a weekend vacation at the cabin on Moody Range. Kelly Roundy and son Gerald Roundy joined them for a short time. Golda Haws and grandsons, Robert Haws and Nathan Haws of St. George, stayed the weekend at her home in Boulder. Golda's daughter, Beverly Ray Tucker, fell and suffered two breaks in her leg just below the knee. Burns Ormond is home from Garfield Memorial Hospital recovering recov-ering from surgery. Bob and Sue Cochran relumed from their three-week vacation in Mexico. Sue Bassett showed slides of her trek through Nepal and up Mt. Everest to the youth of Boulder Ward on March 10. She pointed out that the average wage earner in that country earns about $165 annually. an-nually. That is less than most teenager receive for allowance here. Bill Cox has been called to serve as the young men's president of the Boulder Ward. Young Vard Coombs was ordained a priest. Ada Cox and Julie Lyman of the YWMIA took their class to Panguitch, Pan-guitch, March 15 to a leadership session. General board members of the LDS Church provided a stimulating stimu-lating three and one-half hour training train-ing meeting. Those attending were Nola Coombs, Vard Coombs, Jolecn Lyman, Chad Lyman, Sean Davis, Adrian Roundy, Bill and Ada Cox, and Julie Lyman. By Ella Adair Cora Shakespear spent a day in Tropic, checking on her home and visiting with friends. It was good to see her home again. Mr. and Mrs Malen Littlefield and Violet Littlefield had appointments appoint-ments with an optometrist in Richfield. Rich-field. Glcnna Pollock spent three days in Frcdonia visiting her son and daughter and their families. Ora Brjnkerhoff was in Cedar City with daughter Donna Chynoweth. Tropic friends were sorry to hear of the death of Fern Schow Winzenreid, a former Tropic native. She and her husband Joe spent their summers in Tropic. Ethel LeFevre spent the weekend week-end at her daughter's home in Fillmore. She and husband LaMar attended a Lions Club meeting in Gunnison Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs Kent Wintch visited vis-ited their daughter Charlene and children in Provo for three days. The Obie Shakespears enjoyed a visit from daughter Nelda Fobert. The Malen Littlefields had a surprise overnight visit from son Steve Littlefield.. Michael Ahlstrom was ordained a priest in the LDS Church. Speakers in LDS Sacrament meeting were JanaBaugh, Dana Baugh, Del Rae Pollock, Ferrell Brinkerhoff, and Eva Dean Francisco. Fran-cisco. Mr and Mrs Huey Cole, Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove, visited their daughter Janet Shakespear. Louise and Stan Ott and Ella Bybce were in Cedar City on business. busi-ness. They took Minnie Nielson to be admitted to the hospital for knee surgery. Minnie is recovering at Valley View Medical Center and would enjoy visits from friends. Ella Adair and Margaret M. Mecham were in Cedar City. Marie Hall visited her aunt Minnie Nielson and spent the weekend at the John Niemann home. The annual Relief Society birthday birth-day dinner and program was a big success. LaFaun Pollock visited her daughter Marie Barnson in Delta and helped with a quilting project while there. Melinda Shakespear and fiance, Rob Dotson, Cedar City, and Dar-rell Dar-rell and Kaylcen Shakespear were weekend visitors at the LaMar Shakespear home. The LaMar LeFevres have moved into their new home. Their bed and breakfast inn will soon be completed. Merle and Nyle Richards are visiting vis-iting their children in Payson and will attend their nephew's wedding while there. The irrigation company is busy putting in new pipe line and tearing up the streets. But we are happy to have them complete their project. The streets were in need of repair, so no problem there. The Beehive girls and MIA maids very graciously helped some of the widows with a service project. pro-ject. A great big thank you goes to the girls and their advisors April LeFevre and Kathy Shakespear. The moisture this past week was great. We are hoping that we will receive more soon. Garfield County senior citizens will go to Kanab Friday March 22. Reservations must be made no later than noon March 21, with Ella Adair. Remodeling and addition to the MonDell Syrctt home is soon to be completed. A beautiful new home will be added to the community. Danny Brinkerhoff purchased the Sandburg trailer home and has moved it over to his lot on 1st West and 1st South. He is preparing prepar-ing it for rental in the near future. We will be happy to welcome new families into the community. LaMar and Cheri Feltner went to San Diego to visit her brother Ben Riddle and attend his son's missionary mission-ary farewell. Ora Brinkerhoff and Amplus LeFevre spent a day in Beaver visiting visit-ing daughter Rose Hunt. Her small grandson came back to Tropic to visit for a few days. |
