Show (mm ommmm) Effel Burrows Riggs HATCH Effel Harmon Burrows Bur-rows Riggs, 97, died at the home of her son, Leland Riggs in Hatch on Oct. 1, 1991. She was bom in Georgetown, Utah, on Dec. 22, 1893 to James Bacom and Lucy Emma Workman Burrows. On July 20, 1910, she married Samuel Barnurst Riggs in the Manti LDS Temple. Effel wrote many biographies including those of her father, husband hus-band and herself. She also wrote the history of Hatch and the Hatch LDS Ward Relief Society. She was instrumental in the beautification of the Hatch Cemetery and started the DUP Museum in Hatch She was active in the LDS Church, serving in many capacities from age 13 through her mid-90's. These positions included stake and ward Relief Societies, ward MIA's, and primary and Sunday school, along with several years of genealogical work. Survivors include: seven children, chil-dren, Omega Campbell, St. George; Thora Porter, Cedar City; Mrs. Forrest (Lucele) Hill, Gunnison; Thalia Mickelson, Nephi; S. Leland Riggs, Hatch, Ray Burrows, Og-den; Og-den; and Mrs. Kay (Reva) Alexander, Alexan-der, Salt Lake City. Also surviving surviv-ing are 29 grandchildren, 1 15 greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 52 great-greatgrandchildren; three brother; and two sisters. Funeral services were held Sat., Oct. 5 at 1 1 a.m. at the Hatch LDS Ward Chapel with S. Leland Riggs officiating. Her granddaughters provided the prelude and postlude music great-grandchildren doing two musical numbers. Thora Porter performed an organ solo and Elaine Craw a vocal solo. The invocation was given by Forrest Hill and the eulogy by Omega Campbell. Tributes were rendered by Bonnie Saxon and Estella Riggs with the benediction by Harold Burrows and closing remarks by Leland Riggs.. Interment was in the Hatch Cemetery where Horace Burrows dedicated the grave. 5twr0'" mat.
