Show Senior Volunteers Honored At Dinner Approximately 100 senior citizen citi-zen volunteer workers gathered at the PanguitchHatch Senior Citizens Citi-zens Center in Panguitch to be honored by the Retired Senior Volunteer Vol-unteer Program and for dinner and entertainment. They were there to receive awards and recognition for their selfless service in helping in many ways to serve others, often bringing hands-on assistance to those who are unable to help themselves. them-selves. Ray Barnes, coordinator for Garfield County RSVP, said that aid to others can be a "light touch or a deep commitment." He said a call for assistance is never refused nor is an offer to help ever turned away. Jean Herring, Five County Association As-sociation of Governments coordinator for RSVP, lauded the volunteers not only for their work but also for their special quality of "giving and caring." Individual volunteers were awarded rosette ribbons and their leaders were given pins. Barnes was given a boutonniere. Faye Worthen, busy local center director, when asked if she would like to help with the dinner and program said, "Nope, this time I just want to kick back and enjoy." Deon Alvey, county director, said the fete was especially rewarding reward-ing for her to be able to see the many volunteers being recognized for their good works. Marilyn Erickson and her children chil-dren sang for the crowd and Erickson Erick-son played piano. Faye Alvey, Es-calante, Es-calante, gave a reading; Mr. and Mrs. John Broderick sang; and Fay Worthen also gave an original reading. read-ing.
