Show f 1 72 JCJST STUFF V by jam vk It was only the first part of October Oc-tober and already we had spooks. They weren't due until Halloween, or so I thought! I opened the garage door with my trusty dusty garage door opener, wheeled my car into it's spot. Since Kraig wasn't home from work yet, I didn't have to maneuver past his car, which was great because I had a bunch of groceries to haul in. As I was reaching into the back scat to grab a bag of groceries, the garage door suddenly started down. Silly Kraig, I thought, he doesn't realize I'm home and he thinks he's opening the garage door. I pushed the button on the wall and stopped the door from closing, expecting Kraig's car to come down the driveway any second. Good! He could help me in with the groceries! Expecting to hear the "Vrroom" of Kraig's car, I reached for a bag of groceries. Instead of the "Vrroom" of Kraig's car, I heard the clatter of the garage door going back up. I turned to see if Kraig had pulled in the drive and the door stopped as quickly as it had started. Something funny was going on. Once again I reached for the groceries. gro-ceries. Once again the garage door started to move and Kraig was no where in sight! I'm usually not one to get spooked, but this had me a bit concerned. Every time I made a move, the garage door made a move. Spooks! That was the only explanation. I remembered, when automatic garage door openers first became popular, hearing about doors going up when a neighbor used their remote re-mote control, or one transmitter opening all the doors on the block. But that was when they first came out, and the bugs had been worked out long ago. We were the only one's who could open our garage door! Except today. Today we had spooks. I finally got flustered enough that I flipped off the switch. The garage door wasn't going to go anywhere! It was stopped a quarter of the way down, and that's where I intended it to stay. But as weird as it was acting, I half expected it to go up even though the power was off! I was actually relieved when Kraig pulled in the driveway a half hour later. I didn't want to be alone, not with spooks around! It wasn't until I changed clothes that evening that I realized I had placed the garage door transmitter in my skirt pocket. Every time I moved I was hitting the transmitter button! So much for the spooks! |
