Show ( flREfl OBITUARIES Ray Griffin ESCALANTE - Ray Griffin, 89, Escalante, died June 1, 1985, at his home. He was born Dec. 31, 1896, Escalante, to Joseph Emmerson and Emma Lavina Riggs Griffin. He married LeNora Roundy, April 11, 1916, Escalante; later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He was a farmer; active in the LDS Church, including a counselor in a bishopric. Survivors: wife, Escalante; sons, daughters, Claron, Mrs. Arlis (Melba) Brooks, Bill, all Escalante; Mrs. Harvey (Eva Dean) Liston, Salt Lake City; Eugene "Pole", Huntington; 17 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday in the Escalante Ward chapel with Bishop Gerald R. Johnson presiding and Elder Lynn Griffin, officiating. Steve Blakcy offered the family prayer and Areola Gates played prelude and postlude music. Jim Alvey offered the invocation. Speakers were Vivian Roundy and Jim Spencer. Dennis Lott gave a tribute and Elder Griffin offered remarks. Music included selections by Boyd Griffin, Randy Griffin, Bryan Griffin, Evan Excell and Steve Eyre and organ solo by Janet Spencer. Ray Griffin Elvon Poulson gave the benediction. Interment was in the Escalante Cemetery by Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield, where Jerry Taylor offered the dedicatory prayer. Pallbearers were Darrell Alvey, Dean Gledhill, Boyd Griffin, Randy Griffin, Gaden Griffin and Bryan Griffin. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Alvey, Justin Alvey, Jeramy Alvey, Jesse Alvey, Jeffery Alvey, Shawn Blakey, Michael Blakey, Bret Blakey, Devin Blakey, Jaron Poulson, Tyson Griffin, Brink Griffin, Timothy Eyre, Jimmy Taylor, Arden Taylor, Emmorn Dodds, Rickey Dodds, Gary Dean Gledhill, Dale E. Alvey, Sam Spencer, Heath Spencer, Rick Palmer, Cole Palmer, Andy Palmer, John Spencer and Chris Spencer. |
