Show School Head Elected State PTA Officer Dr. Henry Jolley, superlntendenV of the Garfield County School District, Joined other newly elected state PTA officers when he was elected administrator vice president at the recent 1985 State PTA convention held at Brigham Young University. More than 2,500 delegates at--tended the convention representing! 133,879 members-at-large. Lenora Plothow began her term as state PTA president after serving as president elect last year. Darlene Gubler was elected as the new president-elect. Dr. Jolley serves as chairman of the resolution committee for the state PTA and serves as a member of the executive board, meeting with the president, president-elect and commissioners to determine the direction of the state PTA. As administrator vice president he will interface with the Society of Superintendents in which he also serves as second vice president. He said that hte PTA's spon-sorship of the child restraint law in Utahdemonstratesthe organization's concern fori children in all situations, not just at school. PTA, he said, operates independently of the school but also acts in partnerships, advocating for -the rights and safety of children. He said he would "like to see some way developed to help parents access the school system of their child and help them feel a closer working partnership between the family' and the school providing educational programming for their children." Dr. Jolley will attend four meetings during the year and the annual convention. He was elected for a two-year term. |
