Show Maintenance List Tops County's Priority Need Maintenance problems led the list of priorities at a recent Garfield County Commission meeting. County road supervisor, Ron Greenhalgh discussed the need for cattleguards on top of Boulder Mountain. He also discussed the two areas needing paving at the court house. One section is south of the building, the other is the parking lot proper east of the courthouse. Greenhalgh expressed concern over the Bullfrog Creek Crossing that will soon be under water. He asked if the commission wanted to fill the creek and maintain the crossing. The commissioners have decided to let it go because the lake will back up over it anyway. The commission is accepting bids for a new grader. The county now has several bids but will wait for others. The Panguitch Senior Citizens have been given additional storage space in the courthouse building. Bruce Heywood, County Building Inspector said that fire suppression equipment is needed in the seniors kitchen. Heywood reported that the fire truck at Panguitch Lake is in need of repair and should be brought up to date. The commission says that it wants to sell the fire truck to the people at Panguitch Lake. They would then be responsible for maintenance. Dale Butler of Lake View Resort is presently in charge of the truck. A stop work order of the Burns Black Lodge at Antimony has been issued by Inspector Heywood. Black needs building, heating, electric, plumbing and other plans before he (See COMMISSION Page 2) Commission C8SB29BI can continue work. The commission voted to adjust the county budget upwards $25,000 from $3,054,908 to $3,079,908 to cover expenses for assessing and collecting taxes. The commission adopated the direct billing method for assessing and collecting taxes and instructed clerk auditor Hazel Houston to notify each taxing entity accordingly. Commission Chairman Dell LeFevre has signed a contract with the Del Webb Corporation for the use of the Ticaboo landfill. LeFevre also signed an agreement with Utah Government trust for workman's compensation coverage for the county. Sheriff Vic Middleton informed the commissioners he will need $2,000 for capital improvements on the jail. This would include paint, flooring, electrical work and sash glass. O.J. Bauer has been hired by the county to replace retired Karl Lower. Bauer will be hired until December 1, 1985 for $1,200 per month.. .. Johnf'Houstdn' owner ' of 'the Horizon Lodge, asked the. commission to obtain a transient room print out from the State Tax Commission. He said two motals have paid transient room tax for 1981, but the tax commission is still sending tax bills to two Pangultch motels that have paid these taxes. Stage West, north of Pangultch was issued a Class A beer license. M&M Burger Boy, south of Hatch was issued a business license and a Class B beer license. The County Treasurer, Merle Stowell, has asked to be retired on June 28. At a meeting concerning the Hatch Town Dam, with more than 35 interested spectators in attendance, Paul Sommers of Utah Division of Water Resources gave an overview on the project. They will carry on a study which is mandated by legislature which includes planning activities and engineering investigation. Bill Leeflang of Palmer Welding Consulting Engineers, explained geology formation of the projected site and showed maps of the ' proposed sites. He also estimated costs of each site. Sheldon Talbot of the Central Utah Water Conservancy District talked about making necessary exchanges and agreements and exchange old water rights for water storage at Hatch Town Dam. |
