Show Land Withdrawal Hearing Sept. 8, 9 The Utah Geological and Mineral Survey has received word from the U.S. Department of Interior that Salt Lake City Is chosen as one of two cities where a public hearing will be held for a discussion of Federal Land Withdrawals from Mineral Entry. Hearings are to be held in the Salt Palace September 8 and 9, and in Washington, D.C., September IS and 16. Carlton Stowe, minerals specialist for the Utah Geological and Mineral Survey, notes that people wishing to give testimony on policies and procedures related to land withdrawals or regulations that restrict access to Federal lands for exploration and mining, may contact Dennis Sachs, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Land and Water Division, Department of Interior, Interior Building, Washington, D.C. The Utah federal land withdrawal picture was recently presented in a fact-finding article by Mr. Stowe which appeared in the Survey's "Survey Notes" February, 1976. Earlier attention was also focused on the situation by Mr. Stowe which brought national attention to the withdrawals. Ys - " s |
