Show Garfield Farm Product Sales Reach $1,907,000 The market value of all agricultural products sold by the 193 farms in Garfield County in 1974 amounted to $1,907,000, according to a preliminary report of the 1974 Census of Agriculture released today by the U. S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of the Census. The figures are for farms qualifying under the definition first used for the 1959 Census of Agriculture, a farm indudes all agricultural operations conducted at any time during the census year under the control of an individual management, provided that sales of agricultural products amounted to, or normally would amount to, at least $250 for places of less than 10 acres or $50 for places of 10 acres or more. Farms reporting less than $1,000 In sales numbered 8 In 1974. The value of all agricultural products sold by these farms totaled $2,000. Figures for farms with sales of $2,500 or more are shown for 1974 and 1969. These farms accounted for $1,820,000 of all agricultural products sold in' 1974 and $1,634,000 in 1969. They numbered 172 in 1974 and 133 in 1969. Their average size decreased from 1,032 to 719 acres during the five years. The value per acre climbed from $71 to $242, raising the average value per farm from $72,749 to $174,128. The market value of livestock and their products on these farms was $1,422,000 In. 1974; poultry and their products, $14,000; crop sales, including nursery products and hay, $384,000. |
