Show Peach, Pear Harvest In Capitol Reef September 9 CAPITOL REEF Some of the small crop of peaches and most of the fairly good crop of pears are nearly ripe at Capitol Reef National Park and should be ready about September . Due to the smaller amount of peaches and their extended ripening period, they will be picked on two different days. Dates for peach picking this year will be Thursday, September 9 and Tuesday, September 14. Pear picking will start September 9 and continue until finished. The orchards will be open on a "pick your own" basis from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on picking days. Pickers are requested to bring their own ladders and containers. Climbing in the trees is not allowed for safety purposes and to minimize tree damage. The price for both, peaches and pears will be 4.00 a bushd. Please check at the visitor center or with a park ranger as to which orchards are open for harvest At this time it looks as if the apple harvest will begin after the middle of October and It's expected to be a large crop this year. |
