Show Homemakers Club Holds Program The Panguitch Homemakers Club held Its annual summer party at the home of Verda Coopers. Dinner was served to nineteen members and five guesU. Hostesses were Verda Cooper, Linda Sherwood and Myrtle Riggs. Two new members were admitted into the club Lana Foy and Mabel Fisher. Dm club, one of the oldest active dvic clubs in Panguitch, was organized in 1944 under the direction of the Extension Service. Members of the dub aiiiiniiiiriiiriiii meet once a month except June and July. Purpose of the dub is for education and social advancement. They have sponsored the Fine Arts Department of the Garfield County Fair for years. The club has been one of the most active clubs in Panguitch. Mrs. Cooper is the only charter member still In the club and says that over a period of 32 years she has experienced many activities and fun. The dub has had lessons and demonstrations in upholstery, m ' inrirarir n i home decoration, sewing, remodeling, drafting patterns, ceramic painting, copper work, canning, bread making, cake decorating, flower arranging, landscaping, 4-H leadership, book reviews and many other lessons and crafts that have been useful to a homemaker. For y ears v after the, old Panguitch hospital opened club members went to the hospital in the evenings and bottled fruit and vegetables that had been purchased by the hospital. They did sewing and anything they could to hdp save and pay expenses for the hospitals. The ladies have had food sales, made quilts and always donated money for all dvic projects. Each year they have spon sored one of the drives for cancer, heart fund, or Red Cross or any other they fdt was for a worthy cause. The Club membership is 30 and new members are welcome. Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month. |
