Show Escalante, Bryce Valley Win, Panguitch Loses In Cage Play In Region 8, Class 1-A action, Beaver thumped Bryce Valley, 81-58; Milford ripped Parowan, 109-49; Kanab raced past Enterprise, 75-58; Escalante clipped Piute, 80-74; and Valley slipped past Panguitch, 54-50. ' Milford sewed up the number one spot In the region with Thursday's 109-49 rout over Parowan, as coach John Neilsen played his seven seniors only in Milford's annual senior game. Garland Tait hit 30 for the Tigers as Jim Raines addded 23, Alan Mayer 19, Tom Jones 12, and Kevin Barnes 11. Dave Lamoreaux tossed in 21 for the Rams. Kanab maintained its grip on second place using a strong first and third quarter defense to claim a 75-58 victory over Enterprise. Kit Janes hit 14 and Lex Chamberlain and Ken Glover added 13 each for the Cowboys. Brothers Larry and Richard Phelps paced the Wolves with 19 and 14 points. Beaver used a strong defense, an effort that limited Bryce Valley to only four points in the third quarter, to claim an 81-58 win. Beaver's Russel Albrecht led all scorers with 23 points as Gary Gillins added 22, Dean Eyre 17 and Steve Lowe 14. Lane Lefevre swished 19, as Martin Ramsey added 17 for the Mustangs. Kscalante took a 20-polnt lead in the third quarter, and shot a hot 77 percent from the field in the second half to claim an 80-7 1 win over Piute Senior guard Dal Liston continued to lead the Moqui hitting 24 points for the night as Johnny Alvey and Vem Mclnelly added 18 and 17 points respectively. Mike Dalton hit 25 and Mark Bag-ley addded 19 for Piute. Panguitch threw a second half scare on the Valley Buffaloes in the last quarter, but the earlier Valley lead proved insurmountable for the Bobcats as the Buffaloes claimed a 54-50 victory. Valley again used its balanced scoring attack as Robert Baird and Kyle Soren-sen hit 13 each as Steve He borne and Brad Lamb added 10 each. Gary Church dumped in 1C for the Bobcats.
